Several options allow buyers to customize the shape measurement system to their particular needs.

LOAD CONTROL

The HiRes Shape Meter can be supplied on a variable height mechanism. In addition to cylinders for raise and lower operation, the mechanism is equipped with a variable speed screw jack for adjusting the position and hence the load on the HiRes Shape Meter. The height of the shape meter is used to calculate the wrap angle which in turn is used to determine strip tension, shape error, etc. Load control sets the height of the shape meter based on the average rotor load while limiting the maximum rotor load. This gives maximum resolution possible for any strip thickness.

SKEW CONTROL

The HiRes Shape Meter stand can also be equipped with skew control. A variable speed actuator is used to drive the difference in the thrust bearing pressures to zero. This action insures the rotors are laterally aligned with the strip.

SHAPE CONTROL

The HiRes Shape Meter interface can be easily expanded to incorporate a shape control system with interfaces to sprays, bending and tilt actuators and operator's interface.
